Habitat Utility by Herpetofauna at the Northern Range Limit of Extant Longleaf Pine Ecosystem
Project Lead: Julianne Jones
This work will:
1) Produce a master list of herpetopfauna at the Blackwater Ecological Preserved
2) Examine relationships between herpetofauna species and habitat utility at the northern terminus of mature longleaf pine savanna with comparison to adjacent habitat patches including recently restored longleaf pine, maple-gum swamp, and pond pine pocosin

Longleaf pine ecosystems are fire dependent systems. Prescribed burns are commonly used to manage these unique ecosystems (see photo on right of Julianne working as a Wildland Firefighter in a prescribed burn).
